Julie has been a Registered Nurse for 27 years. She graduated from Clayton College in 2006 with a Doctor of Naturopathy For Healthcare Professionals degree, and earned a Certificate of Wellness. Dr. Julie believes that everyone encounters obstacles in their lives that prevent them from changing the lifestyle factors that are undermining their health. Her passion is to empower self-healing in overcoming those physical, emotional, and spiritual obstacles.
In her own words: I obtained my nursing degree from Mt. St. Mary's College in 1981. I earned a BSN in nursing and obtained my R.N. in 1979. Certified Childbirth Educator since 1990.Cranial Sacral Therapist since 2003. 2003 until the present I have been working as an R.N,BSN,CCE,CST, Traditional Naturopath. Currently, 2008, I am working towards a Master Herbalist degree.
I started my practice working in home from 1999 thru 2005 and then moving on to work with Saddleback Wellness Center for one year, October 2005 - November 2006, and finally to open a private practice in Laguna Hills in December of 2006. Also, during 1999-2005, I spoke as a trained and qualified speaker for Choices /Teen Awareness. I spoke in elementary, junior high, high schools, and youth correctional facilities in LA and Orange County. I wrote and taught Preventative Pregnancy, health and wellness to the education team, and taught to high school, junior high, elementary students, teen correction facility-juvenile youth, adult and single mother programs in the low-income areas of Santa Anna.
From 1990 to 1999 I worked as a Certified Childbirth Educator. I taught childbirth classes weekly, wrote and taught a parenting program, and participated as an active member of the Orange County chapter of Childbirth Educators.
Prior to that, from 1980 to 1995 I worked at St Joseph's Hospital as an RN/ BSN. I began in the area of Medical Surgical Medicine and moved onto Psychiatrics, Obstetrics, Labor and Delivery, High Risk Pregnancy, Post Delivery, and Infant Care. In addition, from 1980 to 1981 I worked at Upjohn Pharmaceuticals as the first RN hired to consult doctors on particular pharmaceuticals that their patients could receive in obtaining better health. This was the first time I began to see how the system worked and really became aware of the ways in which I did not want to practice medicine. I worked for only 10 months in this position as I was very disenchanted with the reality of drug implementation.
From 1974-1979 I worked for Browner, Larson, and Murer Physical therapy as a Physical Therapy Tech. As a UCLA student during this time, I worked in several Convalescent Board and Care homes located in the low-income areas of Los Angeles, and was the sole responsible attendant for many of these homes. It was another genuine experience to be a part of a healing team, to affect and witness progress, sometimes even with just a simple TOUCH and a SMILE.
